My Approach & Values
It is my view that many therapies are effective and research has shown time and again that the relationship between the therapist and client is one of the most important factors in this. Being heard, being believed, feeling ‘safe’, having space, support and developing a new understanding of what’s happening in your life and relationships is paramount.
Integrative Psychotherapy enables this by making space for all aspects of your experience – your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, relationships, breath, movement and of course the world you live in.
This is achieved by looking at and relating to you from physical, energetic, social and cultural andspiritual perspective as well as in the more traditional cognitive or relational way.
This is why, implicit in the specific therapies I offer, I am keen to work with and offer what fits best for you, your belief systems and experiences, fears and hopes. I do not squeeze people into boxes and force a certain way of thinking – I am not treating an illness, I am working with a person who is in distress, or who is attempting to understand something about themselves.
With this in mind, I offer a safe, respectful space, free from judgement, categorising or stereotyping. I want our time together to be rich, enlightening and supportive, enabling us to explore distress, past and present, and then look for healing and growth.
Spirituality is important to me, this is a dimension of our being that is often either avoided completely as a difficult subject, or dominated with cultural and fundamental ‘oughts’ and ‘shoulds’. Again, there is space for this if it important for you in your journey – I am respectful of all beliefs as I believe they all have a truth and beauty of their own.
I also offer Individual and Group Clinical Supervision as well as Corporate Supervision and Consultancy from the same integrative and holistic perspective.
